ULP regime incompetence in governance is SVG’s greatest weakness

The ULP regime’s incompetence in governance is SVG’s greatest weakness since independence in 1979. The ULP regime is not measuring up to the standard that is required and has failed to fulfil their obligations to the people of our country.

The ULP Regime overshot the SVG 2007 Budget by E$63 Million without prior approval of SVG House of Assembly, killed The SVG National Commercial Bank in 2008 with a deadly and foolish Bank Overdraft of EC$ 185 million dollars, and much worse, failed The 1979 SVG Constitutionally Appointed Director of Audit’s audit for the years 2008, 2009 and 2010 (Source SVG Director of Audit Reports; Research by Warrant Officer Ivan Bertie O’Neal BSc (hons),MSc, MBA).

It is quite evident that The ULP Regime is grossly incompetent and outrageously useless in management of the SVG Public Accounts and Financial Resources. Warrant Officer Ivan Bertie O’Neal, who spent three years Full Time at Oxford Brookes University, England, reading for his BSc (hons) in Accounting and Finance and Economics, very strongly contends that the ULP Regime is useless at managing SVG’s Public Finances.

The ULP Regime has been in Power in SVG since 2001 and have shown that they are unqualified to manage the Public Accounts and Finance competently. The Useless and Hopeless ULP Regime has not been able to produce a FISCAL SURPLUS for one year.

In The ULP Regime 2020 Budget Estimates, The ULP Regime was forced to put in a very big Budget Support Loan of EC$46,936,500 for the SVG 2020 Budget. The Policy and Planning Minister of Finance is unqualified in Public Accounts and Public Finance.

Warrant Officer Ivan Bertie O’Neal very strongly contends that we need to urgently build a school of navigation in SVG to train our young generation in the skills of managing a High Seas Fishing Fleet in The Atlantic Ocean. This would support a billion dollar Fishing and Canning Industry that is needed in SVG to create billions of dollars for the SVG Treasury, high paid jobs in our Fishing Industry and very high rates of return on the money invested.

Warrant Officer Ivan Bertie O’Neal BSc (hons), MSc, MBA very strongly contends that we have to move away from the focus on tourism and pull down the high rates of unemployment. We need to get our country into a knowledge-based economy that is export led. Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew did it in Singapore. We can adopt the Singapore model in SVG and move our country out of poverty and destitution into prosperity.

Gonsalves’ foolish economic policies, coupled with the lack of ability to competently manage the public accounts, have mashed up the economy and caused a food crisis. Poor households find it hard to feed their families adequately. In the best interest of our economy and our country, Gonsalves should resign to protect the economy of SVG from falling deeper into the graveyard.

Since 2001, our country has gone backwards: poverty has increased, unemployment has increased, education has fallen downwards, agriculture has been devastated and many businesses have been forced to close down.

Gonsalves’ standard of governance is poor and the people of SVG are suffering as a consequence. He has failed to fulfil his obligation to the people and the country in virtually every way possible. SVG needs change. Time for the ULP regime to be voted out of power.
