There’s a reason why you are suffering hardship and misery. It doesn’t take a genius to work out why our country’s economy is going down the drain. The PM is the culprit. He has dubbed himself the maximum leader…only God can remove me.

SVG’s national debt is 1.5 billion dollars and rising rapidly. The incompetent ULP regime leadership is pushing up national debt 8 times as fast as the St. Vincent Labour party did and 6.5 times as fast as the NDP did. Every day we all wake up poorer because of this weakness of the PM. He is not capable of managing SVG’s finances and we are suffering as a consequence.

The economically competent SVG Green Party declares a motion of no confidence in Ralph Gonsalves and calls on him to resign. The PM has built up a 58 million dollar overdraft at the National Commercial Bank and allowed the 2006 Budget to overshoot by 64 million dollars. Sloppy! This reckless behaviour by Ralph Gonsalves is causing us to suffer.

The PM is making a real mess of families’ finances. It’s no wonder the Audit Reports for 2004, 2005 and 2006 are being withheld. The Director of Audit is the nation’s watch dog, but the economy is in its worst state ever and the reports are being kept from us.

While the PM may ruffle his feathers like the cock of the roost, the reality is managerial impotence – inability to intelligently manage the economy. The question people have to ask themselves is ‘am I happy with this’? Are you happy living in poverty and fear, are you happy with all the violent crime and rape going on, are you happy with job losses, wage cuts, high food prices, high water and electric bills? Why should we be subjected to this inhumane treatment?

Just like Zimbabwe, one man is causing fear, misery and hardship for a whole nation. We have the ‘Mugabe’ of the Caribbean. We are subjected to economic oppression and starvation – starvation of opportunity, starvation of financial security and starvation of hope. In the month when world leaders met in Rome to discuss the global crisis of food, we see basic food items in SVG fast becoming beyond the reach of many families. There’s only one person to blame for our misery – the Vincentian ‘Mugabe’. Why does the PM choose to do this to us?

The ULP regime leadership does not value the people. The people trusted the ULP regime leadership, but we have been betrayed. Do we deserve better? Of course we do. We deserve a decent standard of living; we deserve not to have to live in fear; and we deserve our future back. SVG is facing a serious crisis. Our country is dying by the second. It’s dying because business is dying and the high price of food is destroying value for life.

If you value life then use your vote in a valuable way. An SVG Green Party government is the only way to create a future of any worth. Life is too big a price to pay, but we are paying that price, because of the PM’s economic impotence.
