2008 promises to be the end of the road for the ULP regime. The ULP regime has lost the confidence of the nation. Voted in on a wave of optimism, the ULP regime has stumbled on since 2001. The gap between that voter aspiration and the stark reality of the incompetent ULP regime’s ability has turned in to a chasm of frustration. Election promises have been broken and ULP regime complacency has replaced the respect for the trust placed in them.
The ULP regime’s values are negative and their policies appear to be aimed at depriving people of wealth, choice in education and health and ownership in land. The policies are hostile to people who want to earn and save money, hostile to people who want to have their own business and hostile to people who just want the best for their kids. ULP regime rhetoric has been unmatched by the reality of jobs and money in your pocket. The ULP regime says one thing but their policies perpetuate poverty and unemployment. The ULP regime is no longer the party of ordinary people and they have lost touch with the people.
Many voters were unsure before but now their mind is made up – the ULP government must go. The people want a move from the incompetent and uncaring ULP regime, to a Green government that they know will be efficient and caring. SVG Green party recognises that voters want real policies, real change and real commitment to build a strong and viable economy.
The electorate are aware that a change to a Green government is something they must do not only for themselves, but for their country. There is a serious immediate need to eradicate this ‘ULP regime disease’ of over-regulation, over-taxation, high unemployment, a growing dependency culture and lack of opportunities. We cannot ignore the fact that the ULP regime has betrayed the one reason they were voted in for.
SVG Green party will never compromise on trust. It has shown that it is the only party with sensible ideas and the ability to deliver. We have to transform SVG in to a strong society and do it so that our nation can positively compete in a modern, global world. At the moment we have a country fearful about the high cost of living, brutally hurt by VAT and other high taxes and under the constant threat of falling deeper in to poverty, all because of the ULP regime’s weak leadership by Ralph Gonsalves.
In SVG we urgently need a new direction aimed at building a strong and sustainable economy that can provide thousands of new jobs for all - especially young people – put money in your pocket and pride in our daily lives. Far too many of our young people have been put into a situation of helplessness and a position of dependency. An SVG Green party government will drive this new direction, building a strong and viable economy and showing beyond doubt that the ULP time in office has been 7 years wasted.
The only solution – fresh general elections and throw the ULP regime out of office. We deserve better.
